Even after deleting everything and starting with a new task or backup creation, the error still finds it's way to the log file. You may want to revisit your design. If you are having issues creating backups, please contact me privately with this report. Once I did this, then the aspnet_regiis command worked fine and I got no errors. I stumbled across it by manually typing out the whole line.... I got the answer, it was the readonly property of the web.config which was the problem.
First hit in google redirected me to this thread, but changing the virtual directory name in command has resolved the issue wihtout going to the file location i.e., wwwroot >inetpub etc.Apriori It's not an "inconvenience"...it's software that is not working, not doing what I paid for it to do.
