I’m using Windows 7, and changed the hosts file to point localhost to 127.0.0.1. up vote 1 down vote favorite I started learning PHP a week ago and I installed Eclipse for PHP. Yet I can't load localhost I also cannot load 127.0.0.1 I ran the command sudo lsof -i :80 | egrep "PID|LISTEN" to see if any PID was listening on port 80.

I tried pinging localhost and 127.0.0.1 and got a ping. Maybe some plug-in/add-on? Also, you do need a server side program running even if you are connecting to your own machine.
