Click the "Change" button and then click the "Repair" button. Restart your computer and then try opening the form again in Access. The question is whether Access can _unambiguously_ figure out into which tables and which fields to place the edited or appended data. It doesn't have anything to do with your lock file. The second table is being used to select the record to be updated. It needs to be at or under 500 Kb. Its strange, perhaps the code is trying to search for a valid barcode to quickly on the linked version of the table, the table contains a lot of records (52116 records). This has a primary key field called PurchaseNumber, and links to tblCustomers with a CustomerNumber field.

I am having the same problem with a form of mine and am trying to figure out why I can't type into a textbox. But the production database will be a front end/backend setup. if so that is also a query, if not how are you binding the tables to the forms? Lo and behold I could update the data.
